Web Development in 2026: Trends Worth Following

Web development continues to evolve. Here is what I am paying attention to in 2026:

AI Tools

AI coding assistants have become essential. They do not replace developers but amplify productivity significantly. GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and similar tools are now standard in most developers toolkits.

Edge Computing

Running code closer to the user means faster response times. Edge functions are becoming a first-class citizen in web development.

What I am Skipping

WebAssembly has not replaced JavaScript and will not in the near future. The metaverse talk has died down considerably. And the JavaScript framework of the week cycle has slowed - React, Vue, Svelte, and Solid are all solid choices with their own niches.

The takeaway: ship more, framework-shop less. The best framework is the one you know well enough to build something real with.
