Web3 After the Hype: What's Actually Worth Paying Attention To

The hype around Web3 has died down, but the real value propositions remain. Here is my honest assessment:

Play-to-Earn is Dead

Most P2E tokens were Ponzi-schemes wrapped in gaming aesthetics - new players paying old players until the new players ran out. Most metaverse projects were essentially empty virtual real estate scams.

The Real Value Propositions

I have come to think of blockchain genuine value proposition in three areas:

• Ownership: Verifiable, non-custodial ownership of digital assets
• Programmable money: Smart contracts that automate financial logic without intermediaries
• Censorship resistance: Whether any given project delivers on those promises is a separate question. But those are the real ideas.

Focus on projects that actually solve real problems rather than chasing the latest token launches.
